Version 2: A Reset, Not Just a Redesign
After six years building and selling Hybrid Hosting, I've rebuilt my site from the ground up — not as a portfolio, but as a living hub for my ventures, research, and ideas. Here's what changed, and why.
Hello, and welcome to Version 2 of my personal site.
This new version comes at a major turning point in my life. After spending over six years building Hybrid Hosting, I sold the company. That change has forced me to step back and rethink how I use my time, what I want to pursue, and what I want this next chapter to look like.
For a long time, Hybrid Hosting shaped the way I thought every day. My mind was always on the next improvement, the next problem, the next opportunity, and the next step forward. Building it taught me a lot, and I would do it again without hesitation. But it also meant that I stayed intensely focused on one path for a very long time.
Now, I have room to approach life differently.
I want to spend more time exploring, researching, traveling, and following ideas simply because they are worth chasing. I am especially excited to go deeper into self-driving technology, real-world humanoid AI, hardware, infrastructure, and the kinds of ambitious systems that change how people live and work.
That shift is a big reason this site exists in its current form.
V1 vs. V2
The first version of my site, v1.kobypierce.com, was much more of a traditional portfolio. It was focused on my work, my experience, my projects, and the technologies I use. It did that well, but it felt more like a snapshot of what I had done.
This new version, kobypierce.com, is built to feel more like an active reflection of where I am headed.
Instead of being centered around a standard personal brand or a polished "hire me" pitch, Version 2 is designed more like a central hub for my ventures, research, ideas, and content. It has a stronger point of view, a more intentional structure, and more personality. It is less about listing what I can do and more about showing how I think, what I care about, and what I am building next.
The new site is more editorial, more focused, and more alive. It introduces clearer sections for my ventures, my content, and the areas I am actively exploring. It creates space not just for finished work, but for curiosity, experimentation, and long-term thinking. That matters to me, because this stage of my life is not just about execution. It is about discovery too.
What Stays the Same
I am still continuing the work I care deeply about, including Pierce Technology Solutions and my podcast, Our Full Self Future. But this site is no longer just a place to present myself professionally. It is a place to document what I am building, researching, questioning, and learning.
So in a lot of ways, Version 2 is not just a redesign. It is a reset.
It reflects a shift from constant operational focus to broader exploration. From building one company around the clock to building a life that leaves room for more ideas, more perspective, and more meaningful work.
And yes, while this site is not mainly a "hire me" page, I will always listen if a great company is working on something genuinely exciting. Especially Tesla or SpaceX.
Thanks for reading, and welcome to Version 2.
Have a great rest of your day,
Koby Pierce
