The Problem
I was livestreaming Minecraft with 20 people in the game when the server crashed. Again. And again. I tweeted "I'm just about to start a hosting company" as a joke, but then I got curious. I started making a YouTube video called "What is the best Minecraft hosting company?" and dove into deep investigative journalism. I rented servers from 20+ providers, researched what CPUs they used, talked to hosting company owners, and tested everything. What I found was insane: they were making crazy margins while delivering garbage service. I tweeted "Yo, might be starting a hosting company since all the others are garbage and expensive, anyone in?" on November 26, 2021. The response convinced me this was real.
The Solution
I built one server, shipped it to a data center in New York, and launched Hybrid Hosting LLC on August 3, 2022. That's it. One server. Humble beginnings. From there, we grew into a massive hosting company serving thousands of clients. It's crazy to think we started with just one server in a New York rack. The problem was solved. We built something that actually worked, and once the system was running smoothly, I sold it. Mission accomplished. Time to build the next thing.

What I took from this.
I learned what it really takes to run critical infrastructure from the ground up. Racking servers, managing migrations, handling fires and DDoS attacks and hardware failures. I learned to keep systems running when it mattered. I learned how to price, how to contract, how to scale from one machine to thousands of clients. I learned how to talk to customers at 3am and how to build something that could be sold. This venture taught me that I could build an enterprise, not just a small business, not just a side project.
