Problems & Solutions

The Problem

A lot of conversations about autonomy are broken in one of two ways. They are either too shallow and hype-driven, where everything is framed like science fiction and headlines, or they are so technical that most people immediately tune out. There is a huge gap between those two extremes. Most people want to understand self-driving cars, humanoid robots, and autonomous systems, but they do not want to sit through jargon-heavy explanations or endless arguments that never connect back to the real world. I also saw another missing piece: most people talk about autonomy from the outside. They talk about it in studios, on social media, or from a purely theoretical point of view. Very few people are having those conversations while the system is actually running, while the miles are happening, while the edge cases and behavior can be experienced in real time.

The Solution

I created Our Full Self Future to make autonomy understandable, grounded, and real. The format is a big part of that. Episodes are recorded inside a self-driving Tesla, which turns the podcast from a discussion about autonomy into a conversation happening within autonomy. That changes the feel of everything. It makes the topic more immediate, more honest, and more connected to how these systems actually behave in the world. The goal is to cover autonomous systems in a way that is technically serious without becoming inaccessible. That means talking about Full Self-Driving, LiDAR, vision-only systems, world models, humanoid robots, autonomy in agriculture, and the future of machine intelligence, but explaining it in a way that people can actually follow. It is not about picking one company and defending it like a fan club. It is about understanding how these systems work, where they struggle, where they are improving, and why they matter.

About

Our Full Self Future cover

Our Full Self Future is a podcast focused on autonomous machines and the future they are creating. Hosted by Koby Pierce, the show explores topics ranging from Tesla Full Self-Driving and Waymo-style autonomy to humanoid robots, autonomous agriculture, and the broader systems thinking behind machine intelligence.

The concept behind the podcast is simple but distinct: record real conversations while autonomy is actively being used. Instead of separating commentary from the technology itself, the format brings the discussion into the vehicle, into the drive, and into the real-world environment where autonomous behavior can actually be observed. That gives the podcast a perspective that feels more firsthand, more practical, and more alive than a traditional studio format.

The show is designed to deliver technical insight without unnecessary jargon. It aims to be accessible to people who are deeply knowledgeable about AI and self-driving systems, but also to listeners who are simply curious and want to understand what is coming next. The tone is serious without being academic, thoughtful without being abstract, and optimistic without becoming blind to real technical limitations.

Episode 0 introduced the purpose of the podcast and laid out the broader vision: to explain autonomous systems in a way that almost anyone can understand while still preserving depth and value. Episode 1 featured David Moss, a LiDAR professional and Tesla Full Self-Driving super-user, in a conversation that moved from system architecture and sensing debates into something deeper: the human meaning of autonomy, especially around accessibility and independence.

The podcast is not built around ideology. It is built around curiosity. It is company-agnostic, method-agnostic, and focused on understanding what actually works. Whether the future belongs to vision-only systems, LiDAR-heavy stacks, or something else entirely, the goal is to document the transition clearly and honestly as it unfolds.

Podcast Concept Established

Our Full Self Future was created as a podcast focused on autonomous systems, with the goal of making complex topics understandable without stripping away the technical substance.

Episode 0

Introduction Released

The first episode introduced the mission, format, and philosophy of the show: real conversations about autonomous machines, recorded while autonomy is active, with an emphasis on clarity, honesty, and accessibility.

Core Format Defined

Recorded Inside a Self-Driving Tesla

The in-car recording format became a defining part of the podcast, turning each episode into more than a discussion. It became a live context for analyzing autonomy while it is actually operating.

Episode 1

David Moss Interview

The first major guest episode featured David Moss, a LiDAR salesman and Tesla Full Self-Driving super-user, in a nighttime drive through Lexington, Kentucky. The episode explored the tension between LiDAR and vision-only systems, while also grounding the conversation in human needs like accessibility and independence.

Editorial Direction

Technical Insight Without the Jargon

The podcast established its voice as a place for technically informed but approachable conversations on Full Self-Driving, robotics, AI reasoning, world models, and real-world autonomy.

Real-World Metrics Added

Drive Data as Part of the Story

Each episode began incorporating trip context and drive metrics, including miles driven, Full Self-Driving miles, disengagements, and energy use, reinforcing the podcast's commitment to grounding the conversation in actual performance.

Today

Active and Expanding

Our Full Self Future continues to grow as a platform for conversations about cars, robots, and autonomous systems, with plans to expand guest interviews, field conversations, and broader coverage of real-world autonomy.

Our Full Self Future's Values

Technical Honesty

The podcast takes complex systems seriously. It does not oversimplify to the point of meaninglessness, and it does not pretend current limitations do not exist.

Accessibility of Ideas

Autonomy matters too much to be hidden behind jargon. The goal is to explain advanced topics in a way that people can actually understand and use.

Real-World Grounding

Theory matters, but reality matters more. Recording inside a self-driving vehicle and sharing drive metrics keeps the conversation tied to what these systems are actually doing.

Curiosity Over Tribalism

The show is not built to defend one company or one sensing stack. It is built to explore what works, what scales, and what the future may actually look like.

High-Trust Communication

The best technical communication is clear, direct, and intellectually honest. That is the standard the podcast is aiming for in every episode.

What this is teaching me.

Our Full Self Future is teaching me how to communicate big ideas without flattening them. It is forcing me to take subjects like self-driving, robotics, AI reasoning, and autonomous systems and explain them in a way that still feels precise, but far more human. Every episode is a lesson in how to bridge the gap between technical depth and genuine understanding. It is also teaching me how much context matters. A conversation about autonomy feels different when it happens while the vehicle is actually driving, when the system is actively making decisions, when the road itself becomes part of the discussion. That format keeps me honest. It pushes me to talk about these systems as they are, not just as people imagine them. Running this podcast is teaching me that the future is not built only by engineers and companies. It is also shaped by the people who can explain what is happening, ask better questions, and make complicated shifts understandable to everyone else. This is not a show I am looking back on. It is one I am actively building, actively refining, and actively learning from as autonomy moves from impressive demos into everyday life.
