The Provider Podcast
Co-founded with Leifur Steinn Gunnarsson · Final Season
Demystifying cloud computing, AI, and internet infrastructure with co-host Leifur Steinn Gunnarsson.
Problems & Solutions
The Problem
A lot of the most important technology in the world is explained terribly. Cloud infrastructure, AI, internet architecture, and data centers power huge parts of modern life, but most people hear about them through jargon, buzzwords, and explanations that assume too much prior knowledge. On one side, there are conversations that are too surface-level to be useful. On the other, there are discussions so technical that most listeners check out immediately. Leifur and I saw the same gap: there were not enough conversations that made infrastructure understandable without making it feel dumbed down. Too many people were talking over listeners instead of bringing them into the conversation.
The Solution
We created The Provider Podcast to make technical infrastructure approachable. The idea was simple. Take topics like IaaS, AI, cloud systems, data centers, and internet technologies, then explain them in a way that felt clear, grounded, and actually interesting. We wanted listeners to come away feeling smarter, not overwhelmed. The show was built around the chemistry between two people who genuinely understood the space and enjoyed talking about it. Instead of leaning into hype or abstract industry language, we focused on translating complex systems into relatable explanations and practical insights. The mission was to demystify tech, one episode at a time.
About

The Provider Podcast is a technology podcast created by Koby Pierce and Leifur Steinn Gunnarsson. Together, they set out to make cloud computing, AI, internet infrastructure, and data center topics more understandable to a wider audience.
The show was built around a clear communication philosophy: technical subjects do not need to be watered down, but they do need to be explained well. Drawing on their experience in infrastructure and hosting, Koby and Leifur used the podcast to break down the concepts that power the digital world into conversations that felt accessible, relevant, and grounded in real experience.
The podcast covered a range of core topics including cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, internet technologies, data centers, and broader industry insights. Episodes were designed to help listeners understand not only what these technologies are, but why they matter and how they connect to the systems people use every day.
A major part of what made the show work was the combination of perspectives. Koby brought experience as a founder and operator in hosting and infrastructure, while Leifur brought his background in the provider space and a strong understanding of networking and industry dynamics. That combination created a format that felt both informed and conversational.
As the podcast evolved, so did the realities around it. Both hosts became increasingly busy with their own work, and the challenge of recording consistently across Iceland and Kentucky made production difficult. The latency between locations created too much friction to maintain the level of quality the show deserved. Rather than stretching it out indefinitely or letting it fade away, we decided to finish it intentionally, record a final set of episodes properly, and give it a real ending.
The Provider Podcast's Timeline
Key milestones.
Launch★
Podcast Concept Established
The Provider Podcast was created to make cloud, AI, and internet infrastructure easier to understand for a broader audience without losing the technical substance.
Episode 0
Introduction Released
The show launched with an introductory episode laying out the mission, the hosts, and the goal of demystifying technical concepts through clear, conversational explanations.
Editorial Direction
Demystifying Tech, One Episode at a Time
The podcast established its identity around accessible education, focusing on infrastructure, AI, data centers, and internet technologies.
Episode Expansion
Broader Technical Coverage
The show expanded into more detailed discussions, including topics like artificial intelligence, neural networks, transformers, inference, compute, GPUs, and emerging hardware trends.
Core Dynamic
Cross-Regional Hosting Format
The podcast developed around the collaboration between co-hosts based in different countries, bringing together two industry perspectives while also introducing the production challenges that came with remote recording.
Closing Decision
Intentional Final Run
As both hosts became increasingly busy and the recording experience across Iceland and Kentucky continued to make high-quality production difficult, the decision was made to bring the podcast to a close intentionally rather than let it drift.
Final Episodes
Planned Conclusion
A final group of episodes is being recorded to give the podcast a proper sendoff and end the project with intention, not abandonment.
The Provider Podcast's Values
Clarity
Technical ideas should be explained in a way that people can actually follow without stripping away what makes them meaningful.
Substance
The goal was never to chase empty hype. The podcast aimed to deliver real understanding, not just trending buzzwords.
Accessibility
Technology should not feel locked behind language that only insiders can decode. Good explanations open the door.
Curiosity
The best conversations come from asking real questions, making real connections, and being willing to explore how systems actually work.
Intentionality
Even in ending the project, the goal is to handle it with care. Some things deserve a real conclusion, not a quiet fadeout.
What this is teaching me.
The Provider Podcast has been teaching me how much good communication matters in technical fields. It is one thing to understand infrastructure, AI, and internet systems yourself. It is another thing to explain them in a way that helps other people actually care, actually understand, and actually connect the dots. This podcast pushed me to get better at that. It also taught me how important format and logistics are to creative work. A strong idea is not always enough on its own. Sometimes the practical realities, time, distance, schedules, and even latency, shape what is sustainable. That does not make the project a failure. It just means you have to be honest about what it takes to do something well. Most of all, this podcast is teaching me that ending something thoughtfully can be just as important as starting it. The Provider Podcast is not being abandoned. It is being finished with intention. That matters to me. It reflects the kind of work I want to build: honest, useful, and handled with care from beginning to end.
